Wedding Venue Peak Edge Hotel

"Choosing our venue was easy. From the second we walked in to Peak Edge Hotel we knew we wouldn’t be getting married any where else but there. We were speechless when walking round the oak room and seeing the views outside. It’s a great location and you can stay the night before so you can get ready in a great room with a tasty breakfast delivered to your door too! The wedding coordinators were so helpful throughout our planning and always on hand to help with anything. All of the staff on the day were amazing too."

The Dress, Shoes and Flowers

"I got my dress from Charlotte Elizabeth Bridal in Matlock and it was the most incredible experience going there! I was so nervous and not very confident but Charlotte was amazing she really listened and knew the sort of style I was wanting! She has the most incredible range of dresses and after trying a few on I just knew the first one was “the one”. I felt amazing in it and didn’t want to take it off! I went back for an accessories appointment where I bought a beautiful hair piece and veil - my experience again was just as great. My shoes I bought online from Rainbow Club. I wanted a block heel for comfort and also needed some height as Rich is quite a bit taller than me! The flowers were from The Flower Shoppe in Clay Cross. Sarah was lovely she knew exactly what I was wanting and my flowers were just incredible. We got so many compliments on the bouquets and button holes. We reused the bouquets on our top table and gifting table too."

The Make up and Hair

"I had Hair by LeahRose do my hair and Lauren Yates MUA do my makeup and they are both great at what they do. I met them for trials at the salons they are based at and they are both so lovely. My hair and make up lasted all day and night even in the hot weather! On the morning of the wedding they arrived on time to the bridal suite and were both so organised and brought such a calming vibe to the room! I was so excited when getting ready. One of my bridesmaids created a playlist so we had that playing in the background and it was just such a relaxed, happy and exciting morning!"

The Groomsmen Suits

"We got the suits from Smart Menswear in Clay Cross. They were recommended by a close friend and you can have the option to buy or rent the suits which worked well for myself and my groomsmen. We went for a Marc Darcy Scott - blue check three piece suit. They didn’t have matching children’s suits however they were great at finding us the closest match for our Paige boys. They had the Marc Darcy Eton - Navy blue tweed check. On the morning and getting ready I was excited that it was finally happening, it wasn’t until I walked in to start greeting guests that the nerves kicked in a little."

The Wedding Theme and Colour Scheme

"For our theme we wanted to keep it simple and elegant. We didn’t want anything too big as centrepieces as we personally felt that the oak room was already so nicely set. We went for a wooden/rustic vibe with lanterns, silver tea light holders and small floral arrangements for the tables. For our gifting table we wanted to have something a little different so we framed pictures of family members on their wedding day that are sadly no longer with us. We also had a sign made to go with these pictures - this was initially placed on a reserved chair in the ceremony alongside a photo of Rich’s mum and dad. Our colour scheme was sage which again we felt tied in lovely with the venue."

How did you feel walking down the aisle?

"I thought I was going to be so nervous walking down the aisle. Just before I walked down I felt emotional (but remembered about make up so took a deep breath!) hearing the music made it feel so real but as soon as they opened the curtain I was so excited. I couldn’t wait to walk down the aisle and see Rich."

What did you think seeing your bride for the first time?

"When I saw Emily for the first time I thought she looked amazing and I knew how lucky I was - especially after seeing our daughter walk down the aisle just before. I went from being nervous in a room full of people to feeling like we were the only ones there and my nerves disappeared."

"Even though our son (20 months old at the time) was upset and only wanted to be held by us I remember it still only feeling like it was just us two in the room. We are both very self conscious but it just felt so amazing finally getting to say our vows. It went really fast and even though we hadn’t planned to hold our son it was extra special that he was up there with us as well, as our daughter was ring bearer."

Celebrations

"It was lovely seeing all our guests after the ceremony. It was such amazing weather that day so everyone was outside, enjoying a drink and just so happy for us. It was a great feeling. "

How did you feel during the bride and groom photo shoot?

"We were both really relaxed, happy and in the moment. Neither of us are confident in front of the camera so didn’t want too many posed pictures. This is why we chose Frances. After seeing her work we knew that she would capture our day perfectly and she made us feel so at ease. Frances is absolutely fantastic at her job - everyone commented how friendly she was and that they didn’t notice she’d taken certain pictures. We have so many incredible photos from our day!"

Which is your favourite photograph and why?

"Rich’s favourite is this one it’s his favourite because of the scenery and how natural it is. It’s actually like something out of a film!"

"One of my favourite pictures is this one- I remember being stood on the bridge and didn’t know where Frances was stood with her camera - we were just so in the moment. Chatting, smiling, catching up and just couldn’t believe we were finally married!"

The speeches are great, so many smiling faces, what are your stand out moments from your speeches?

"Everyone in the room was shocked that my mum stood up first to do a speech! We had no idea! My step dad’s face says it all! I don’t think he was impressed as he was so nervous to do his speech but had to wait a little longer! Rich’s brother Matt did amazing with his speech too! There were tears from a lot during that! I also loved the bit in Rich’s speech where he embarrassed my brother - the laughs around the whole room and his face were great!"

The cake and first dance

"The Pantry Door made our cake. Victoria came highly recommended and if you look at her work you will see why! Every flavour is amazing we found it really difficult narrowing it down to three. The detail is incredible and we even had some hidden details carved in to the back of our cake which were great when people spotted them! For our first dance we chose James Morrison - I won’t let you go. We always knew this would be our first dance song. It’s a song close to our heart and the lyrics have meaning to us. We were both nervous for the first dance. Neither of us are great dancers and we didn’t have much practice apart from in our kitchen but it was still a great feeling walking hand in hand onto the dance floor."

What is the most memorable moment from your wedding day?

"It was honestly all perfect from start to finish! There isn’t a single stand out moment for us. Finally getting married after facing some really tough times over the years was just incredible! All of our suppliers were great and every one went above and beyond to give us the best day ever!"

Any tips for future brides and grooms?

"Do what makes you happy!

Invite people who you actually want there not who you think should be there.

Pick suppliers that will work alongside you to bring your visions to life.

Enjoy every single second. From planning to the actual day! Everyone says it but your wedding day goes by so fast so soak up every last bit of as you will want to do it all over again!"

Any suppliers you’d like to recommend?

"Magician and host - we had Jordan Maycock host for us and he is incredible! He kept everyone entertained during the day and into the evening! Instagram @jordan_maycock

Videographer - we used Zten media - Shane was fantastic and personally we think a videographer is a must. There is so much of the day you either don’t see or forget so being able to watch it back whenever you want is great. Instagram @zten_media

Makeup - Lauren Yates MUA. Lauren is amazing. She’s so lovely and great at what she does! She also does eyebrows so is great to go and see for bridal prep! Instagram @laurenyatespromua

Hair - hair by LeahRose. Again Leah is amazing! The styles she creates are incredible! Instagram @hairbyleahrose1

Dress - Charlotte Elizabeth Bridal. It was the most magical experience. Charlotte has won lots of awards and you can see why! Instagram @charlotte.elizabeth.bridal

Venue styling - Perfect day stylists. We hired some of our table decor (lanterns and small floral arrangements) it saved money and we actually wish we had known we could hire before we bought other bits! The chair sashes were upgraded from our original package and we loved our table seating plan. Instagram @perfectdaystylists"
